You don’t need to be a tech wizard to show up on Google.
You just need to fix a few small things most photographers overlook.
If your website looks beautiful but isn’t getting clicks, don’t panic – it’s usually not your work. It’s your SEO setup.
Good SEO isn’t about algorithms and acronyms. It’s about helping Google understand who you are, what you do, and where you work – so your dream clients can actually find you.
Here are five quick, no-fluff SEO fixes you can make this week to start showing up in search results.

Fix your page titles
Your homepage shouldn’t just say Home.
Your About page shouldn’t just say About.
Those tiny page titles are some of the strongest signals Google reads.
Instead of:
Home
Try:
Wedding Photographer in North Georgia | Jane Doe Photography
Instead of:
About
Try:
About Jane | Alpharetta Wedding Photographer
Clear, descriptive titles help both Google and potential clients instantly understand what you do.
Rename your images
Google can’t “see” your photos – but it can read what they’re called.
If your images are still named IMG_1234.jpg, you’re missing a big SEO opportunity.
Rename each file before uploading, like:
atlanta-wedding-photographer.jpgfamily-session-georgia-lake.jpg
Then, when you upload, add short alt text describing the image and location.
It helps with SEO and accessibility – two wins in one.
Add internal links
Think of your website like a web (literally).
Each page should connect to others so clients and Google can explore naturally.
Inside every blog or gallery post, add at least:
- one link to a service page (like your photography packages)
- one link to another related blog
Internal links tell Google which pages matter most and keep visitors scrolling longer – both great for ranking.
Optimize your Meta descriptions
When someone Googles you, the little snippet under your name is your meta description – it’s your first impression.
Don’t let it default to random text. Write one that includes what you do, who you serve, and where you’re based.
Example:
Natural light photographer in Portland, specializing in relaxed family and newborn sessions.
That one line can make the difference between a click and a scroll-past.
Write a blog post this month
You don’t need to post daily – even one thoughtful post can make an impact.
Blog about a recent session, a location you love, or a question your clients always ask.
Include keywords naturally, mention your city, and add a few images.
Blogging builds visibility over time, gives you content to share on social media, and helps potential clients feel what it’s like to work with you.
SEO doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s just a few small habits that help your work get the attention it deserves.
Fix your titles. Rename your images. Add links. Write one story. Repeat.
Each step compounds – helping Google understand your expertise and helping your dream clients find you faster.
